Apple held a Press Conference two weeks ago addressing the new iPhone 3.0 software release which is scheduled for release some time later this year. I’m going to go over some of the Highlights of the Press Conference.
1. Search Your iPhone
Pretty much every Mac user should know Spotlight, where you type in a keyword and it searches your entire computer and brings up a list of files that correspond with your keyword. So Apple has now brought this to your iPhone making it easy to find a specific file by searching your whole phone rather than a single application.
2. Cut, Copy and Paste
So allot of people complaining and requesting to have Cut, Copy and Paste on their iPhone has persuaded Apple to put it in the new 3.0 release. All you have to do is tap a word and select copy, or if you want to select more than one word drag the indicators until you have selected the amount of text you want to then select copy. Then you can paste it in wherever you want to.
3. Send Photos, Contacts, Audio Files, And Location Via MMS*
MMS Stands for MultiMedia Messaging Service and if you’ve ever wanted to send a Photo, Contact, Audio File or Location to your Friend or Business Colleague via a text message, you can do that in the new iPhone 3.0 with MMS. All you have to do is insert the file you want to send into a text message and then send it. It’s really simple.
4. Read and Compose email and text messages in landscape
Allot of people have complained that they are able to view websites in a landscape view, but they can’t use a landscape keyboard when typing a text message or email. Well now that is possible in iPhone 3.0 all you have to do is turn the iPhone on it’s side and the keyboard will automatically adjust accordingly. Then type freely.
5. Over 1000 new APIs for developers
If you’re a developer for iPhone you now have over 1000 new APIs to play around with. Some of them include the ability to have optional extras your customers can pay for. And the ability for your customer to subscribe to your Application so that they can receive updates automatically. Those are just two of them, but there are allot more so if your a developer check it out for yourself.
So those are some of the highlights, please leave a comment with your thoughts
